I'm Tina - a birth and postpartum doula - and I'm so glad you're here! My desire is to be a guide, helper, encourager, and interpreter for you in your special season of having a baby. Whatever type of birth you choose, I am here to give you all the evidence based information you need in order to have the pregnancy, the birth, and the postpartum you dream of. Birth can be super unpredictable but the effort you put into your birth and the information and confidence you gain will be of huge help! You do not need to walk this path on your own. I serve the Niagara Region of Ontario - including St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Welland, Wainfleet, and Dunnville.
One thing that makes me different as a doula is that I am a Christian and I believe that God wants to be fully present in every part of our life, including birth! Surrendering this crucial part of our life over to Him is utterly important. We are not called to live in fear but of power!
I help you to turn your fear into faith, give you Scriptures that will inspire you, and pray over you.
No matter what type of birth you choose, or what ends up happening, you can have a God-honoring birth. And I'm here to cheer you on!

My birth story and how I became a doula
I have been a certified doula and VBAC doula for about 5 years now. My passion for birth came after having my second baby.
I went into pregnancy knowing absolutely nothing and had a ton of fear. All I had ever heard were the horror stories. But for some reason, I had a fighting desire inside of me that made me want to change this narrative about birth. Birth was a normal thing and happened every day. Why couldn't it be a beautiful experience and why couldn't it be incredible? Why did it have to be scary? With that desire inside of me, I researched and researched and put in all the work that I could to ensure a birth that was not geared by fear.
My birth went really fast and started suddenly. I was overcome with pain and fear - the exact thing I didn't want. But no one was there to guide my breathing or my thinking. I lost control. I birthed a beautiful baby girl, but felt devastated that the birth I experienced was just like everyone else's. So I went into postpartum with a sad heart. Recovery was tough, but becoming a mother was tough! Breastfeeding was hard and trying to find joy in all the newness was hard. It wasn't what I had wanted, but I kept on persevering.
When I got pregnant with my second baby, I did a lot of the similar birth preparation as my first, but worked really hard with breathing technique and visuals - basically hypnobirthing. I practiced and practiced and when labor began, my practice paid off. My brain and body knew exactly how to relax because I had done it for months already! My birth was so redemptive and so beautiful. It was painful, yet a wonderful experience. My next two births followed suit.
I know now - and with watching other women- that birth doesn't need to be something to fear. It can be a wonderful experience. Painful and hard, yes. But beautiful too. And that is why I'm here. To inspire, guide, and help the women that want a different type of birth than what this world is offering.
